Homemade

We have been so blessed with gifts for our little guy. I wanted to share with you some of the handmade and unique things we've received thus far:

This cute little duck is from one of my HCW couponing friends. She made him herself- and he's really soft to the touch. Naturally, Leia is scared of it.

Dana, one of the ELL translators at the elementary school painted this for us. I just love it. It matches the jungle 'theme' we chose for his room. And, I hadn't decided if I was going to share the name we chose for our little man here on the blog, but here it is! We are going to name him Bryson.
My friend Karen made us these two burp rags and this really cute diaper bag. I need to take a better picture of it- I love the attention to detail that she had- even down to the lining inside the bag!

My mom made us a TON of these burp rags- the picture doesn't do them justice. They are adorable!

And, this last item wasn't a gift, but I wanted to share it anyways :) We got this glider rocking chair from one of Brandon's co-workers for $40. It was a great glider, but it didn't match our room. So, my mom had it re-covered for us. It looks amazing in Bryson's room and when he's done with it, it'll match most of the other furniture in our home. It's really comfortable too!

Awesome find!

I purchased our diaper bag today- and I got a GREAT deal on it!
I stopped by Gap to check out the sale racks, and I found this- an OiOi diaper bag, originally sold for $120, online only. However, someone had returned it, so it was marked $79.97. Not bad, especially since I had just researched this brand online a few hours before and it was still in its packaging!
But, it got better-when i went to check out, I got an extra 25% off- so I purchased a $120 diaper bag for $60!!!!

Now, I just need our little guy to arrive so I can carry it around! :)

This could be trouble....

Gap is having a pretty awesome sale- up to 40% off on most of the store. I was looking through some CUTE baby clothes ($2.99 onesies!) and the sales girl mentioned that Gap Card customers will get an extra 25% off their entire purchase this weekend- Thursday through Sunday.

I'm not sure if the sales are as good online, but I'd say that's worth a trip to Gap if you need some clothing :)

Gap should pay me for some advertising!

Kinda a big deal....

My official state SLP paperwork came in the mail! It's actually more exciting than my diplomas- I can't wait to frame it.

The nursery- part two

The nursery is really starting to take shape. We assembled the crib, the cube like shelf and we've moved all baby items into the room.

Gifts we've received, garage sale finds, etc. have been scattered throughout the house. It feels great to have things 'in their place'. I've sorted, washed, folded and hung up his clothing, which gives me a weird since of accomplishment. :)
Now, we just need to hand those jungle prints on the wall, purchase a mattress, purchase and hang curtains and attend our baby showers! We've been blessed beyond belief already- I just can't believe how smoothly it's all coming together.

Great finds!

Yet another great morning for garage sale-ing! :) I stopped by a neighborhood garage sale Friday morning, and it looked promising. So, Saturday morning I went back to that same neighborhood, and I spent over an hour and a half there! I found some great stuff for our little guy and for us.
This bookshelf was $4. I really like it because it folds flat and is easy to move. I've already set it up in our guest room for toy storage. All of these toys:

Parents' drum/musical set- $1
Piggy bank/coins- $1
Soft books and toy- $1.50 total
2 'Discovery Toys' games (for my speech kiddos)- $3.50

Also, I didn't take a photos, but I picked up 2 bags full of clothing- total spent $20. Again, everything was name brand, no stains, etc. I found 2 sweatshirt jackets that had never been warn. One lady had everything marked $3/outfit. I thought that was a little high- as did everyone else as nothing was selling. So, I asked her if she would make 'a deal'- and she did. I picked out about 18 items of clothing and she asked me what I wanted to give- I said $7- she said $8! SOLD! I was expecting to spend around $12-$15 on the pile!

There weren't as many garage sales this weekend, so I'm pretty sure the season is winding down....but if all neighborhood garage sales were this good- I wouldn't need to go to multiple ones! :)

Already thinking about stains....

It's well known by our family and friends that Brandon and I spill drinks, food, etc. pretty easily. With our clothing, I just apply Shout right away, and the stains almost always come out.

With our little guy on the way, I know his stains will be different- and I want to make sure and get 'em out of his cute little outfits!

I found this article the other day, titled 'How to remove breast milk/formula stains from clothing':
http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/clean-up-time/how-to-remove-breastmilk-stains-085524

Do you know of any other way to get baby stains out? Or do you have any other recommendations? :) Just trying to think ahead!
