Shopping for the baby

Saturday morning, as it began to snow, I met my parents at the 'Mothers of Multiples' garage/consignment sale. They have it twice a year, from 7am-2pm on a Saturday. Mom and Dad went early and found me this great jogging stroller for $50:
Today, we bought this crib at Target (Delta Canton), and I picked up some free wipes with the $5/1 Huggies coupons and the $1.50/1 Target Huggies coupons. I also picked up some $1.50 Dole salad and $0.89 Market Pantry cereal. I don't think Baby K will need wipes any time soon :)

I don't know if I ever mentioned it, but I went to the 'Just Between Friends' consignment sale in Tulsa back at the beginning of March. For $75 I got all of this:(moses basket with rocking stand, baby bathtub, boppy pillow, 3 hooded towels, stacking toy)
We are going to have the moses basket and stand in our room, but we didn't want to spend alot, so second-hand was the way to go!

We feel really blessed to have found all of this baby gear for discounted prices. Granted, the crib wasn't on sale, but I really researched the safety, etc- and that's the one that we wanted, and happened to be in our price range.

Do you have 'Just Between Friends' or 'Mothers of Multiples' sales in your area? How else do you find great baby deals?

Big coupon news!

We're getting a CVS drug store/pharmacy!
It won't be super convenient, as it is being built at 71st and Yale....but hopefully more stores will be built in the years to come :)

I've gotten back into couponing a bit- we saved over $23 at Target last week. I still haven't made it back to Homeland- I just need there to be enough good deals/free stuff to make it worth my drive over there.

Darn.

My beloved Cannon G9 bit the dust today.

I sat down in my chair to upload my photos from my KC trip, and it wouldn't turn on. I charged the battery and still nothing. So, after an hour with Geek Squad at Best Buy, my camera is on its way back to Cannon. Estimated return date- 2 weeks from now :(

I'm really sad, but my mom said we could borrow there camera, so I feel a bit better. I don't like to spend alot of money, and when I do I really like to research out my purchase. I saved all my Masters graduation money plus some of my own for that camera- it was the 1st big purchase I made for myself in a long time.
Sigh.

On another note- OSU beat Tennesse in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament! So exciting!

Gotta love the public library!

I finally renewed my library card (They don't accept the card I've had since 1st grade anymore!) and stopped by our local branch to see if they had any pre-natal workout dvd's.
They had 1 in stock, but the librarian requested FIVE more for me! I don't think I'll have to purchase a single dvd.....

Anywho, I checked out 'Prenatal Fitness Fix'- and it's pretty good. It has a 40 minute cardio workout with some yoga moves mixed in, and then a 20 minute 'couples' workout. I haven't attempted the couples workout, I figure I can do that one on my own though.
Parts of the dvd were challenging- but the instructor is pregnant and reminds you to take frequent water breaks.

I hope to review some other prenatal workout dvd's soon! Do you have any recommendations?

16 weeks

We made it back from the in-laws just in time for the 80 degree weather here! I'm loving it, as is Leia. Today we went over to Erica's and made Blarney Stones (since it's St. Patricks Day) and we took the puppies on a walk. I'm going to Kansas City tomorrow to see Allison and my friend Sarah from college- I'm really excitied about it. I rarely travel by myself- but KC is only 4 hrs away, and I think it'll be a nice drive.

Anywho, here's my 16 week photo:
I don't know if I've grown that much this past week.......I'll let you be the judge. I feel like my face looks different and I've noticed my feet hurting more- those are some changes I'm not ready for!
I feel much more energetic this week- I have to remind myself to slow down. I did too much at work last Thursday and pulled a muscle- ouch. I now know the proper bending techniques and I'm doing much better!

Busy, Busy

This is such a crazy week!
Parent-Teacher conferences are Thursday and Friday, and I always go a little crazy scheduling IEP's and parent meetings during conference time. I don't know why I do this to myself.....it's just seems so much easier to get it all done in one night.

It's all worth it though in the end- we get a week off for Spring Break :)

We are going to see the in-laws this weekend....I'm looking forward to a change of pace.

Diapers Galore!

I now remember why stockpiling is such a good idea :)

I woke up early this morning (around 6:30) and couldn't go back to sleep, so I went to the 24 hr Walgreens to run the Huggies deal. I think I fared pretty well. I shoulda used all my $5/1 coupons, but I saved a few for wipes at Target. Here's everything I got:
3 packs of wipes- 184 wipes per pack
Size 1- 2 packs- 88 diapers total
Size 2- 5 packs- 200 diapers
Size 3- 3 packs- 105 diapers
Size 4- 3 packs- 90 diapers
Size 5- 2 packs- 52 diapers
+3 Easter candy fillers
=$82.03
- 11.25 Rebate from Caregiver's Marketplace
= $70.78 total OOP

That averages out to be around $0.11 to per diaper. Pretty good for name brand.

This past summer, Karen and I ran the Walgreens brand diaper deal- and today after church when I realized how many size 2 diapers I have, I think I might need to exchange some...but I'm just going to tape the reciepts to the Huggies and I can return as needed.
I also stockpiled free Huggies wipes back during the Christmas 07 Target sale.....Here's what I already had on hand:

For those of you with kiddos, do you think I need to stock up any more? Should I return any size 1 or size 2 diapers now? Here are my totals:
Size 1- 312 diapers
Size 2- 488 diapers
Size 3- 340 diapers
Size 4- 124 diapers
Size 5- 52 diapers

I'm sure another deal will come along before our kiddo hits size 3-4.......

Another doctors appt.....

We had an exciting doctors visit yesterday! Baby K looked great- he's grown SO much! I couldn't believe how big his arms/legs are. He would not stop moving around, I can't believe he moves that much. Heart rate was great- in the 140's and his little spine looked wonderful.

We also found out that Baby K is most likely a 'HE'! We'll confirm at the next appt in April, but Dr. S was pretty confident. He put an arrow in the 3rd slide to help us remember the identifying marker! :) ha!
It's kinda hard to believe- its starting to seem like it's happening fast. I'm always amazing by the baby's growth between appointments. We are blessed to have a Dr that does ultrasounds at every visit.

February Budget

I don't know if I can even call it a 'budget'. We ate out quite a bit during the month of February, and only shopped at Target and Wal-Mart. We did use the Target coupons, which saved us over $20....still.........

Here's the breakdown:
Total spent on groceries: $129.97
Guesstimate of savings: $30 total- yikes!
Total spent on going out to eat: over $200 for sure :(

Now that the 1st trimester is over, I'm feeling alot better. I still have some food aversions, but it occurs when I'm actually sitting down to eat a meal instead of at the sight of a grocery store.

I'm really excited about Sunday- Walgreens is going to have an AMAZING Huggies diaper deal. I've asked everyone I know to print me the $3/1 and $5/1 Huggies coupons from www.coupons.com and I'm ready to go. I've even got Brandon on board! Hopefully, the Walgreens diaper deal will get us back on the couponing track.
