No heat.

What a week we've had.
A few nights ago, the house was getting a little chilly. I decided it was a good time to turn on the heat and let it run for a bit. Well, it kicked on and had that 'I haven't been turned on in 6 months' smell. It was blowing nice warm air, and all was well.

About 5 minutes passed, and the warm air subsided. We turned the unit off & on, checked the pilot light, etc. Nothing. So, we turned the heater off and I called in a service call to our Home Warranty that came w/ our house.
2 service calls, several days and a $60 co-pay later, we need a new furnace. American Home Shield (our home warranty company) should cover it, but due to a dent in the back of the unit, they are claiming that it is a manufacturer defect. The unit is original to the house, thus its 15 years old! After several phone calls from myself and my Realtor (who secured this warranty for us as part of our negations) AHS is supposed to let us know Monday if they will pay for the furnace or not.

I feel that they should cover the unit, but we'll see. Either way it has to be replaced. I just want to know one way or the other; Worse case, we have to pay 100% of the cost of a new furnace. Nice.
I'll keep you'all posted.

We have an AHS warranty too, and so far, it's been great.

We had to call the A/C guy right as we moved in. Though we paid $60, we saved way more than that.

Just last week, our dishwasher AND our oven went out. Though we had to pay two $60 co-pays, we still saved money by having the warranty.

Good luck with the repair. I certainly hope that you get good results with them.
